How many grandsons does jack duckworth have

Vera turned against her instantly, even accusing her of being the reason for Terry's misfortune. Jack however knew that Terry would never stand by his family, but felt duty bound to stand by his wife in their shunning of Lisa.

She gave birth to a little boy, Tommy, and everything seemed perfect for their surrogate family, until one night Lisa was killed by a car as she was leaving the Rovers and crossing the street. Following this tragedy, Tommy went to live with his paternal grandparents, but Jack and Vera found it hard to cope. They also suffered financially. A callous Terry sold his son to his maternal grandparents, the Hortons of Blackpool , despite Vera's impassioned pleas.

Jack's response to Terry's actions was more straightforward and uncompromising - he punched Terry on the jaw. Terry's one-night stand with barmaid Tricia Armstrong resulted in baby Brad, but Terry didn't want to know about his son, and Tricia left with a new lover, decorator Ray Thorpe.

The Duckworths tried several times to win custody of Tommy from the Hortons, but to no avail. They continued to see him occasionally, but relations remained strained. Jack and Vera calmed down in their later years, becoming more of a down-to-earth northern couple. They became surrogate parents for Tyrone Dobbs whose mother, Jackie , had been in prison for violence. Jack considered him to be more his own son than Terry ever was. Jack adored his pigeons, though Vera could not stand them, and once tricked him into believing that she had cooked him a pigeon pie.

In Jack agreed to sell his dead body for a certain sum of cash to an artist who enjoys painting stuffed humans, so he could buy Vera a Christmas present. When Vera discovered this, she argued with the woman. The artist was inspired to ask both Jack and Vera to pose nude for the artist, on condition that they would be buried as normal. The Duckworths celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary with a party at the Rovers in August Vera died suddenly on 18th January in the armchair at her house, where she was discovered by a devastated Jack.

They had been planning to move to Blackpool at the time, but Vera's death prompted Jack to call off the move and remain in Weatherfield. Jack began a friendship with a pigeon lover called Connie in , although Tyrone didn't approve as he saw her just wanting to replace Vera. However Tyrone eventually accepted her and put behind his stubbornness. Connie was well off, and Jack left to live with her but still visited the Street. He was touched deeply when Tyrone and Molly had a son and named him Jack.

In , Jack suddenly returned - no longer living with Connie but wouldn't say why. Tyrone and Molly allowed him to move back in to No. Jack then confessed to Tyrone he had non-Hodgkin lymphoma which was incurable and he would be dead within weeks.

Tyrone was devastated, but he and Jack resolved to make the most of his last few weeks. Jack also decided to perform secret acts of kindness for his friends and neighbours.

He also helped Ashley Peacock and his wife Claire through their marriage difficulties by encouraging them to talk to each other. Knowing that Jack's upcoming birthday would be his last, Tyrone set about organising a party in the Rovers to celebrate.

One night, Jack was left extremely upset when he overheard an argument between Molly and Kevin Webster and learned that Molly had cheated on Tyrone with Kevin who was actually Jack's father but initially kept the information to himself.

On 7th November , Jack enjoyed the gathering at the Rovers for his birthday seeing his long-time friends and neighbours but could barely contain his hostility around Kevin. In June , Terry appeared back in the Street with Tommy. In March , the Hortons were visited by Tricia Armstrong who had given birth to Terry's youngest son Brad and was hoping to contact him.

Jeff felt uncomfortable with this and insisted that Tricia was better off without Terry but she still left a letter for Terry in the care of Doreen and was grateful for the fact she could tell Brad that he had once met his half-brother Tommy. Jack and Vera took care of Tommy in Blackpool in July while the Hortons were away and the following month Jeff turned up in Weatherfield and left Tommy in the care of the Duckworths again as Doreen had left him for another man. While Tyrone Dobbs was minding Tommy at the garage, Doreen turned up and snatched him but Tyrone then successfully snatched him back and brought him to Jack and Vera where he wanted to stay.

When Jeff and Doreen turned up and announced they had reunited, the Duckworths were forced to hand Tommy over once more. Tommy travelled the world between and He turned up on the Street in March asking Tyrone where Jack was and was shocked to hear that he had died.

As he was now estranged from the Hortons and had nowhere else to stay, Tyrone offered him a room. He began working as a mechanic with Tyrone and Kevin Webster although Kevin took an instant disliking to him. He had his eyes on barmaid Tina McIntyre. Although Tina was already in a relationship with Graeme Proctor , the pair split up after he left Weatherfield with his new wife Xin.

Tommy was happy when Tina moved into Tyrone's house as a lodger after she was forced out of the Corner Shop flat by Dev Alahan to make way for his daughter Amber. However, much to Tommy's dismay, Tina began dating local doctor Matt Carter , and Tommy attempted to warn him off, but it only drew them closer together.

Tina and Tommy went a date in Nick's Bistro , however it didn't go down too well when Tommy found a piece of paper that Tina had written, which listed Tommy's pros and cons on.

Tommy was angry with Tina and vice versa, but they eventually reconciled after Tommy's grandfather, Jeff passed away. As Jeff and Doreen had raised him since he was a baby, his death hit Tommy hard, but he coped well until Tommy's dad, Terry, showed up and, not knowing that Tommy was his son, punched him in the face for refusing to move his camper van. Tina, among others, didn't trust Terry but Tommy, desperate to have a proper dad, allowed Terry back into his life.

They reconciled and Terry, unlike Tina, was quite happy to take Tommy's money and persuaded him to invest in Se7enth Hea7en , a new lap dancing club that he was starting up but admitted that he owed money to some loan sharks. Tommy offered to clear those debts but got caught in a whole new web of dilemmas. In order to pay his debts, Tommy took on extra work but he was so tired that he crashed his work's van and broke his ankle.

Unfortunately as he was not working at the time he was driving the van, he had to pay the pizza company for the van as it was written off, landing him and Tina in more debt. The debt put pressure on Tommy and Tina's relationship and lead to continuing rows. Worried about how they were going to pay their debts off, Tina took a second job doing Owen Armstrong 's accounts and when she learnt that his daughter, Izzy and partner Gary were looking for a surrogate, she told Owen she'd be interested if the price was right.

Rita told Tommy that Tina would need their help and support but Tommy could not offer her that after people learned that Tina was pregnant and assumed he was the father, until he told everyone in the Rovers that Gary and Izzy were the biological parents. When baby Jake was born in May , Tina became emotionally attached to him and desired to keep him, renaming him Joe in honour of her late father. He claimed the photo was of his grandfather her great-grandfather. Vera was quickly convinced that she had blue blood coursing through her veins when Joss claimed he was the illegitimate grandson of Royalty.

Vera had always "felt royal". Jack of course, was never convinced. Luck finally shone on the Duckworths when they had the opportunity to buy the Rovers Return in It was the proudest day in her life when Vera put her name as licensee above the door to the Rovers. Together they felt respect from their community for the first time. Alec Gilroy became equal partners with the Duckworths.

In late , after many rows, Alec bought out the Duckworth with the understanding that they could remain in the Rovers flat and continue to be employed in the bar. Jack and Vera are presently in temporary lodgings but continue to work at the Rovers Return. Coming full circle, Jack Duckworth has returned to his position as cellarman, and Vera Duckworth as cleaner.

When Gary Mallet decided to sell up and move to Blackpool with his twins, having found a new love, Jack and Vera bought Number 9 back from him. Jack had recently won over 60, pounds betting on a succession of horses. They moved back "home", taking lodger Tyrone with them.

Shortly after, Andrea Clayton came to see the Duckworths to tell them that her son, their grandson, Paul, needed a kidney transplant. Jack and Vera both tested to be donors and Vera was a match but Jack didn't want her to undertake such a serious operation at her age.

Terry was finally contacted and was persuaded financially to take the tests and he was a match too. Jack offered him 25, to do the operation and Terry nearly did it but bottled out at the last minute, taking the money and running.

Vera went into surgery shortly after. The transplant was successful but Vera developed complications and nearly died. While Jack was waiting to see if she'd recover, he found a note from her that she'd left "just in case". In it, she confessed to an affair and said that she thought Terry might not be Jack's son. Jack told Curly that he was sure Terry was because Terry was so much like him.

Later he pretented to Vee that he never read the note because he was positive she would survive. While Vera recovered, Jack had a new extension built on the back of the house for a refitted kitchen. A few years later, Vera took up a pinny and worked part time in the cafe with Roy.
