I am about days in out of an estimated for a tier 5. Sometimes it takes a year. Optimistic or not, it seems to me that HR for an agency would be in the best position of anybody to know estimated approximate timelines. Granted that they do not know the issues on each case thus they have given AVERAGE number of days to public trust adjudication being that they are involved in every investigation process.
I don't know for sure about other agencies. I think it helps if the agency adjudication is within the agency as the OPM seems to be backlogged for quite some time. I am ok with the slow process considering I have school aged children. Hopefully it will be complete in May after they are out for summer break, because this will be a cross country move!
If your in the investigative phase of the process a shut down should not cause too much delay in your case. They have a backlog of work as of September which was , cases, so they would still simply work the cases which have already been handed over to them. DAHON, it really depends on what the case type is of the investigation. A tier 5 Top Secret will take on average over a year right now depending on priority partially due to the backlog itself.
Coincidently, Trump signed the appropriations bill which funded DHS among others 5 days prior to my adjudication. A public trust BI is not the same as a tier 5 top secret BI.
